El Tequila has been family owned and serving authentic Mexican food for nearly 23 years. We started as just another family with some amazing recipes. We believed that our family recipes were so good that other people would enjoy them as much as we did. That’s why, in 1996, we opened the first El Tequila Mexican Family Restaurant in Faribault, MN.

​Our family opened the doors and our hearts to the Faribault community.  The Faribault residents welcomed us and soon we were getting requests from neighboring communities to open in their town.  Soon, Owatonna was open so that our family recipes could reach even more happy hearts and homes.  We fell in love with Owatonna and knew we were here to stay.  And, from there, we added Northfield, Waseca and New Prague.  Now, we have been serving Southern MN for 23 years.​

We have received recognition and awards for our savory, original, and authentic Mexican food and drinks. We have now served well over a million orders of what is widely regarded as the best salsa in Minnesota.

We are proud of our family recipes, including our desserts like our smooth and creamy Mexican-styled flan. We also have some amazing tropical mixed drinks and Margaritas to go along with one of the largest selections of Mexican beers and Tequila in the state. We believe that we have the most authentic Mexican experience you can get this far North of the border.

Our dream did not start with the idea of making money, we simply wanted to share amazing food with the community.  We can’t thank our customers enough for supporting us at each location.
